[London, UK – 2 October 2025] With the UK Government’s Depot Charging Scheme applications closing on 28 November 2025, fleet operators are being urged to move quickly to secure funding, and avoid missing an opportunity for the electric vehicle (EV) transition.
Zaptec, a leader in EV charging solutions for fleets and workplaces and who recently launched its Vehicle-to-Grid-ready and OZEV-approved Zaptec Go 2 charger into the UK marketplace, is making the call for operators to take advantage of the scheme before it closes in two months.
Zaptec described the UK’s Depot Charging Scheme (DCS) as a “major opportunity” for businesses and local authorities to upgrade charging infrastructure for their vehicle depots, electric vans, and emerging e-HGV fleets.
It comes as the firm has also launched a guide to EV charging for fleet managers, offering operators a comprehensive ‘how to’ document on what to consider as EV infrastructure when shifting from petrol and diesel to a fully-electric fleet - setting them up for the smart energy future.
The insightful study includes charger setup budgeting, key principles on charge point management, questions for suppliers, and details about AC charger technologies as well as grants and support. You can read the full Fleet Manager’s Guide to EV Charging here.
As applications for the DCS must be submitted by the end of November, fleets that delay risk missing out on this crucial funding round, which will help them to offset the costs of electrification.
The DCS covers 75% of charge point and civil costs for schemes, up to a maximum of £1 million across all sites. There is no limit to the number of sites that operators can apply for - but it is limited to one application per organisation.
Apart from the DCS, deadlines for other EV infrastructure grants for workplace and staff parking are coming up early in 2026. Zaptec is therefore calling on fleet operators to swiftly review their depot and workplace fleet projects now - and decide what qualifies for funding before it is too late.
“The Depot Charging Scheme is a major opportunity for fleet charging. Missing the November deadline could mean paying more to catch up later - so we encourage all operators who can apply now. It is also important to consider the other government funding for EV infrastructure that has a deadline in March 2026.
“Fleet depots are transforming rapidly. Those who act now can take advantage of government support and leap ahead, giving them a commercial advantage and helping to deliver net-zero goals.
“Our guide for EV fleets aims to help operators in the transition and electrification of their fleet - and our overall charging solutions for both home, workplace and depot help fleet operators to provide chargers quickly and cost-effectively, managing the whole system with peace of mind and confidence. ” Michael Braybrook, Managing Director, Zaptec UK
Zaptec’s fleet charging solutions are tailored for fleet depot, workplace, and home charging environments, with key features including ruggedised Norwegian design, a 5-year guarantee, and 99.9% uptime - purpose-built for demanding fleet use.
The company offers scalable solutions, including single-cable installations, backplate options to install now and scale later, and load balancing, allowing multiple vehicles to charge simultaneously without costly grid upgrades. Products have lower material and labour intensity in installation - Zaptec Pro, for example, reduces material use by up to 70% and labour time by more than 60%.
Critically, its products also offer OZEV approval, real-time monitoring and cost control through MID-metering, OCPP connectivity, as well as app-based expense and reimbursement integration. Cloud dashboards let fleet managers track usage, manage energy costs, and plan efficiently too.
